🎬 For Filmmakers

Q1: How do I submit my film to the festival?
Submissions for 2026 are now open: https://filmfreeway.com/StamfordInternationalFilmFestival

Q2: What are the eligibility requirements?
Requirements may vary, but may include 20 runtime limit, language (with subtitles), and genre. Always check the terms and conditions on film freeway before you submit. 

 

Q3: Is there a submission fee?
Yes. On film freeway you will be able to see the price breakdown. 

 

Q4: When will I know if my film is selected?
We will announce the shortlist by August 1st and the finalist will be announced by August 14th.

 

Q5: If selected, am I required to attend the festival?
Attendance is  required, any film that does not have someone to represent the film will forfeit their opportunity to win.Each film will receive one free ticket to their screening and confirmation for attendance will need to be emailed by August 31st.

Q1: How are the films judged?
Our amazing jury of industry professionals evaluates films based on storytelling, originality, technical quality, and overall impact.

Q2: What are the award categories?
Short Film, Drama, Comedy, Women in Film, LGBTQIA+, Director, Cinematography, Actor, Actress, Composer, Editor, Sound Design, Student.

Q3: Is there an audience award?
Short answer. No.

Q1: How do I buy tickets?
Tickets not yet on sale

Q2: What types of films are shown?
We will be showcasing a mix of nominated short films, BFI backed short films and out of festival films that have finished or finishing their festival run.

Q3: Can I attend a single screening or do I need a pass?
You can buy a ticket per screening or talk, a day pass for access to all and all access pass which includes the award show.

Q4: Is the film Festival suitable for children?
Anyone under the age of 18 needs to be accompanied by an adult. Films may not be suitable for younger viewers and it is up to the discretion of the accompanying adult if they wish to bring their child along. Stamford International Film Festival is not liable for any action or language that is not suitable for their eyes or ears.  

Q5: Are there Q&A sessions with filmmakers?
Yes, We have a dedicated Q&A with BFI Filmmakers. Our panel talks will also open up the floor to the audience to questions following their talks.

Q6: Is there parking? The festival itself does not have dedicated parking. However Stamford has ample parking facilities. We encourage all guests to take public transport where possible. Stamford train station is less than a 10 minute walk from Stamford Arts Centre. 

Q7: What time can I arrive from? We suggest you arrive ahead of the allocated time on your ticket as the festival will run to time. 

Q8: Can I order a ticket for a screening and a talk that run at the same time? While in theory you can, tickets are limited based on seating capacity. So in order to to allow everyone the opportunity to attend the events they want, this is heavily discouraged.
